I remember landing in the United States for the first time and being surprised by the diversity of people. My husband and I got married in India in 2011 and I flew to Las Vegas in May of 2012. He was at a convention and didn’t want to delay my homecoming, so we met in Vegas and then drove back to Dallas, Texas.
There was food from every nationality, everyone was dressed differently, and so much to do and experience. My husband, Manu, was born and raised in Chicago, and used to living here. But for me, I couldn’t enjoy the sights or the variety of foods because it was a shock to my senses.
Things have changed a lot since I first arrived. I’ve traveled, had two wonderful kids, Reza and Myra, and I’m learning more about the world around me. As a stay at home mom, I’m pushing myself to learn new recipes to better feed my family. My husband and I are avid gardeners who are trying to raise 100% of our own vegetables in our backyard. And we’re constantly trying to expand our kids’ knowledge of the world and broaden their horizons.
I hope you enjoy my journey and share your knowledge with me. The universe sometimes feels like a strange place and I hope my blog will help us all feel more at home.
